Mornings with Malakai | On Christmas

Good morning friends! We’re here with another “Mornings with Malakai”, Christmas style. I love hearing the answers to the questions 3 year old Malakai is asked. It’s a great reminder to find joy in the simple things and to look at the world through the eyes of a kid.

Alyssa (Malakai’s mama) asked Malakai questions about his thoughts on Christmas. I always get a kick out of his answers- I know you will too!

Where does Santa live?
In the reindeers! I mean, WITH the reindeers. He tells them “giddy up” and he’s very nice. He gives me presents…just not right now! Not until Christmas.

(let it be known that he says “Chrimpas” for Christmas, haha. It’s the cutest thing!)

Who is your favorite reindeer?
The biggest one I’ve ever seen!

What is your favorite Christmas song?
Jingle Bells.

What do you want for Christmas?
A Zurg gun!

What are we going to leave for Santa on Christmas Eve?
I think he would like gingerbread cookies

And for the reindeer?
I think the reindeers want carrots and potatoes, just not the yucky potatoes because then they could die and Santa would be very sad. (I don’t know where he gets this stuff, I swear! haha)

What do you think Santa will get Leia for Christmas?
I think she wants popcorn. You and daddy want popcorn, too.
What makes Santa’s sleigh fly?
His reindeers! They run really really fast and then they jump really really high like this: (demonstrates)

How does Santa know what you want for Christmas?
I don’t know! But you do. (HAHAHAHA this one killed me!)

How does Santa fit all of those presents into his sack?
He just uses the small presents…but they’ll grow up really soon.

What is Mrs. Claus’s job?
She gets little presents for Santa and bakes him gingerbread cookies. But if he doesn’t eat them all he will just tell her “Sorry!”.

Why do we put a Christmas tree up in the house?
Because we need it because it’s almost christmas!

How many reindeer does Santa have?
10! Just not 21.

Why do we celebrate Christmas?
Because we gotta hurry before the Grinch comes!

Thanks Alyssa and Malakai! Have a wonderful Friday everyone, and a great Christmas!!…

Mornings with Malakai

I’m a huge fan of simple delights. So when I saw this little interview on the lovely photographer Alyssa Armstrong’s blog (who I just did a logo for!) – I couldn’t stop smiling. She realized her baby boy was growing up very fast and wanted to ask him questions and record his answers so she can remember this time in his life. And boy is he a cutie! I liked it so much, I asked Alyssa if she would come over onto my blog to do a new monthly series, “Mornings with Malakai” where she interviews her adorable son on different topics. It’s a small and simple way to bring a smile to your face each month. It sure does for me!

This month’s topic- Thanksgiving of course! Here’s the interview from Malakai and Alyssa:

These are some of Malakai’s thoughts on Thanksgiving. The answers weren’t done in one sitting, and I may or may not have engaged in some light bribery, but we did it! This is Malakai’s first Thanksgiving that he will be old enough to understand and remember, so it’s pretty exciting! Thanks Mal. And thank you, Joanna!

What is your name?
Malakai!

How old are you, Malakai?
Ummm. Five, because I’m bigger. (He’s three…)

Tell me about yourself. What are some of your favorite things to do?
I like dancing to music and playing Lego games.

What does Thanksgiving mean to you?
Hm. I don’t know yet! I think it’s when you eat turkey.

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
I want to play with Bapa and be a turkey.

What’s your favorite thing to eat for Thanksgiving?
Popcorn. (he’s seriously had popcorn like, five times in his life. and never for Thanksgiving!)

Rumor has it you are going to visit with your family for Thanksgiving. How do you feel about that?
Pretty good! I’m going to be a zombie with Harlan and Jude.

What are you thankful for?
My family and my toys. My bigger toys.

How long does it take to cook a turkey?
30 hours

Where do you get a turkey?
From paper, a stick, and your hand. (HAHAHAHA, he’s talking about his paper turkey!)

Who eats the most turkey in your house?
Daddy!

Thanks so much Alyssa, your son is hilarious, and so so precious. Love that you are capturing his words during this special time in his life.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I will be out the rest of the week spending time with family and eating way too much spinach artichoke dip. Have a wonderful holiday!…
